‘Simplify Your Life’ week is all about decluttering your life both physically and psychologically to reduce stress and anxiety. Let’s beat the Monday blues with our lates blog that brings you the must try tips to declutter your life. Grab the checklist, let’s get cracking!

It is important to get rid of physical and psychological clutter that may hinder one from living a peaceful and stress-free life. Most of us have a tendency to clutter up our lives, both physically and psychologically so make sure to follow this checklist to refocus your life.

  1. Begin with mindfulness

The most effective way to start decluttering your life is to maintain a moment-by-moment awareness of thoughts, feeling, sensations and surrounding environment. Life can sometimes be extremely demanding and requires lots of time and energy. The ever-evolving technologies make it difficult for us to disconnect from the world and make it difficult for us to live in the moment. Take some time to practice mindfulness by focusing attention and observing thoughts and feelings.

2. Organise your home and work space

Declutter sections of your home or office and experience the beauty of a clean space. Set some time aside to go through clothes and accessories. Decide on what you want to keep and what you can donate. Remember that a clear space equals a clear mind!

3. Do something you love

Simplify your life by doing something you love, watch a movie, go for a walk, meet up with a friend or have some chocolate. Take some time out for yourself an enjoy what life has to offer.

4. Disconnect from social media

Make sure to unplug yourself from the digital world for at least 1 hour a day. No matter how you chose to unplug, giving yourself some time each day to disconnect from the virtual world can work wonders to reduce stress.

5. Focus on the things that matter

It is important to focus on the things that matter and spend less time focusing on those that don’t matter. Follow the 80/20 rule. The rule claims that 80% of results come out of 20% of your efforts. Find out what this 20% is for you and focus more time on this.

Make sure to look after yourself and take some time to declutter your life physically and psychologically to reduce stress and anxiety in your life. We can simplify our lives at both work and at home and in turn this will increase focus, improve relationships and allow you to learn more about yourself.
